On the first connection in Belize, not at purchase. The plan selected above (3 GB) runs for 15 days from that moment. You can install the eSIM at home and the clock stays still until you connect.
Do I get a local phone number in Belize?
No. The eSIM is data only. Your own SIM stays in for calls and texts, and WhatsApp keeps working over the eSIM data.
Can I share data with my laptop?
Yes. Hotspot sharing is supported on the plan selected above, so your laptop or tablet can use the eSIM data through your phone.
Which network does the Belize eSIM use?
The Belize eSIM uses DigiCell, the only operator on our Belize list, and it is listed as a 4G network. Some plans are labelled 4G/5G, but you should expect 4G. We do not make coverage promises for specific islands or inland areas.
Is 3 GB enough for two weeks in Belize?
It can be, if you keep to maps, messages and light browsing and use lodge WiFi for anything heavy. 3 GB for 15 days in Belize is a small daily share. If you post video or work from your phone, the 15 day unlimited plan is the safer choice.
Does one plan cover Belize and its neighbours?
No. The plans on this page work in Belize only, and no regional plan of ours lists Belize. Trips that continue into Mexico or Guatemala need a separate plan for each country, installed on the same phone.
Do I need WiFi to install the Belize eSIM?
Yes, the phone needs an internet connection to download the eSIM from the QR code. Home WiFi before the trip is the easy way. Installing early does not start the plan, because the days only count from the first connection in Belize.
Can I use the Belize eSIM on a tablet?
Yes, if the tablet supports eSIM and is carrier unlocked. An eSIM installs on one device, so decide which one before you scan the code. Since hotspot is allowed on all Belize plans, many people install it on the phone and share to the tablet.
What happens when my Belize data runs out?
On a fixed plan the data stops when the allowance is used. Some Belize plans support top up, and the plan card says which. On a plan without top up you buy a new plan and install it. Unlimited plans never stop, they slow down after the daily amount.
I landed in Belize and have no signal. What should I check?
Check that the eSIM line is on, that it is selected for mobile data, and that data roaming is enabled for it. Then restart the phone. If it still does not find DigiCell, email support with your order details. We reply seven days a week.
How do I top up if I run low?
