Does my phone support eSIM?

Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, as long as they are carrier unlocked. A short check tells you for sure, and the full model list is further down.

What your phone needs for a travel eSIM

It supports eSIM

Dial *#06# and look for a 32 digit EID number. If one appears, the hardware is there.

It is carrier unlocked

A phone locked to one network will not accept a plan from another. Your provider can remove the lock.

It is not jailbroken or rooted

Models that differ by region. iPhones sold in mainland China have no eSIM hardware. Models bought in Hong Kong or Macao are excluded too, except the iPhone 13 mini, 12 mini, SE 2020 and XS. A few Samsung and Pixel models sold in South Korea, Japan and Australia also differ. If you are unsure, go by the *#06# check.

Questions about eSIM compatible phones

Not answered here? Email support.

My phone is not on the list. Can it still work?

Yes, it can, because the list covers the common models and not every phone made. Dial *#06# and look for an EID. If it is there and your phone is unlocked, our eSIM will install.

How do I know if my phone is carrier locked?

Look in Settings for a carrier lock entry, or ask your provider directly. A locked phone will download the eSIM and then refuse to switch it on.

Do phones from some regions lack eSIM?

Yes, a few do. iPhones sold in mainland China have no eSIM hardware, and models from Hong Kong and Macao are excluded except the iPhone 13 mini, 12 mini, SE 2020 and XS. Some Samsung models from South Korea and Japan also differ.

Can I use an eSIM on a tablet or laptop?

Yes, if the device has eSIM built in, as cellular iPads and many Windows laptops do. A data plan works there the same way it does on a phone.

Can two phones share one eSIM?

No, one QR code goes onto one device and cannot be copied to another. Buy a second plan for the other phone, or share data over hotspot if your plan allows it.
